To restore progress in the quest "Picking up the Trail", each stage (objective) needs to be set to 1. The SQS console command can be used to check the quest stages, and the quest ID for "Picking up the Trail" is 00014e8c. Each listed quest stage corresponds to an objective of the quest, which can be found on the wiki. To achieve this, open two console commands with ~. ![]() I'm not looking for a solution to skip parts of the game; instead, I want to restore my progress in "Picking up the Trail". Once you're on the other side of the gate, use the TCL command again to re-enable collisions and then proceed into Murder Pass. In the PC version, using the console command TCL will allow you to switch off collisions, allowing you to walk through the gate blocking access to Murder Pass. However, this can become a problem if it occurs before asking MacCready to open the gate or Joseph to restore power to the computer console, as the dialogue options prompting them to perform these tasks are no longer available after the quest is completed. It's possible that the quest will be considered "completed" and begin the next one without ever entering Vault 87. Upon researching, it appears this bug is known for PC players. While playing Fallout 3, I suddenly found that "Picking up the Trail" had completed itself when I was nowhere near Lamplight Cavern.
